Music Program for the Wedding Rites (church) and for the Reception

The Wedding Rites

The following is a traditional music program for the typical Catholic wedding rites. It is highly recommended for the wedding party to inform and secure the approval of their officiating priest and the church staff regarding parts of the Mass they want to be sung before printing their missalette. A non-Catholic Christian and a Civil wedding ceremony usually adds and/or omits some parts:.

  • Processional music for the Entourage
  • Processional music for the Bride
  • Background music during the Exchange of Vows
  • Offertory Song
  • Lord's Prayer (may also be recited) - The Lord’s Prayer may be sung if the lector will lead the congregation, or if a vocal soloist or choir is available.
  • Music during Communion
  • Music during Pictorials (after the mass)
  • Recessional Music

The Wedding Reception

Below is a traditional music program for the wedding reception. The ensemble requires brief intermissions in between sets to enable the musicians to rest and have their meals. Pre-recorded music may be provided by the mobile or sound system during these short breaks.

  • Grand Entrance of the Couple
  • Wedding Dinner Music (45 minutes to 1 hour)
  • Music for the Cake-cutting Ceremony
  • Music for the Releasing of the Doves
  • Music for the First Dance of the Couple
  • Music After the Parting Words of the Couple
